Max is Two Months Old

He wasn't too sure about such a bold public display of affection.
Getting a kick out of mama being goofy.
 Trying to talk to mama.
Trying sooo hard to figure out how that blasted hand of his operates.
This pic is pretty funny, because he was perfectly happy a moment before the picture was taken.
He smiles all the time now, huge smiles that last for 30 seconds at a time, that feature his deep dimple on his right cheek. He seems to try to laugh sometimes, it sounds like a little cough, and it surprises him when it happens. He is so easy to please most of the time, even if he's upset, he will take a break from crying if you smile at him to flash you that charming smile of his. He will often hang out in his chair happily when I have to get things done, just inspecting the fish toys hanging down from it.

He can hold his weight on his legs for a few seconds or more at a time, and he loves doing it. He just needs support for balance.

He weighs around 13 pounds. His 0-3 month clothes are getting very snug, and he is already into size 2 diapers. For comparison, Kin's just recently grew out of size 3 diapers. Here he is showing off his chubs.
Here he is wearing a onesie that fits him the same way it fit Kins when she was 5 months old.
A lot of the hair on the top of his head fell out about a month ago, and it's coming back in now. It's still dark, it looks like he won't have blonde hair like Tim, Kins, and I. He's going to be a striking fellow, with blue eyes and dark hair. He was born with sparse eyelashes, as was Kins, and they've already filled in quite a bit. They're darker than Kin's are, and it looks like they'll get full and long like hers too. Here they are at 6 weeks old, they already are thicker now that he's 8 weeks.
He is getting easy at night. He sometimes sleeps 8 hours at night, and it's gotten rare for him to want to nurse more than once a night. I'm living the dream now!

Kin's is a little better with him each day, but it's going to be very nice when she can start to interact with him more and they can become friends. I look forward to seeing him reach all of those exciting milestones, and at the same time, wish I could slow time down a little. I thought time flew when Kin's was his age, but that was nothing compared to how fast it goes by when I'm busy with two little ones. And now it's time for me to take my little guy out on the deck, and snuggle him while I read a book and Kins naps. Nice weather has arrived, and I'm eating it up.

Little Tim

I think it's cute how much Kins looks like her daddy.

Kins is slowly getting better with Max. She is doing a lot less clawing and more kissing and talking. I definitely can't leave them together alone even for a second, but I can leave him in her reach when I'm in the room and not constantly be preventing injury.
Most of my pictures don't show his eye color very well. It's similar to Kin's.
Making a mess with pa-cheeros (spaghettios).
Making a mess with Nutella. Food is mostly for messes, rarely for eating.
Feeling pretty with her flower clip. She often requests a hair clip. Hair clips come second to her obsession with shoes though. She will play with shoes for an hour at a time. Putting them on and taking them off her hands and feet, then admiring herself wearing them.
She was getting a big kick out of Max riding on her shoulders. She was running around the house laughing her head off because daddy had Max sitting on hour shoulders while they sprinted around.
A sleep smile. I have a hard time getting his awake smiles on camera. I thought the camera obsession started later with babies, but he's already there. Can't hold a camera up to take his picture when he's smiling without the smile immediately being wiped off his face, due to his fascination with the camera.
Some smiley faces drawn by Kins. She's into making the eyes very large these days. She carefully draws the eyes, pauses, then dramatically swipes the marker across the paper for the smile.
One day she kept arranging a tea party for herself. She put a spoon in each cup, and carefully pull up the pink chair just so. Then she'd move it all to the other side of the coffee table.

Kins Says

After waking up at 5 am, she stood up in her crib, and held her blankie over the edge threatening to drop it. Finally, she did. A minute later she decided she was still tired and wanted to go back to sleep instead of getting up. She laid down, but decided she couldn't sleep without her blankie, so she tried desperately to reach through her crib bars down to the floor to get it back. She started making a big show of grunting with the futile effort, which saying, "I can't reach! I need help!" I think it's interesting how she knows to say "I" even though in situations where she learned what can't reach meant, I was saying, "You can't reach."

It cracks me up that she refuses to say, "binkie". She says it "dinkie". I worked with her one day, saying things like, "B is for binkie, bah, bah, bah-inkie". She would say, "B, bah bah, dee-inkie". She can say the B perfectly, but for some reason she really prefers to say dinkie.

Another crib story... she was supposed to be napping, but had been carrying on singing and wandering around her crib instead. Suddenly, she stated loudly, "big poo poo." Half a second later, she yelled it, "BIG POO POO!!!" Wanted to make sure I didn't miss it I guess.

She can tell the difference between the sound of an airplane, lawn mower, and motorcycle pretty accurately. She is really into letting you know which one just passed. If you don't look at her when she tells you, she marches up, takes your face in her hands, turns it toward her, and tells you again.
